Hit [on] the Road

Shamelessly plugged from the very excellent music blog Ear Farm, comes the news that a new application for iPhone and iPod Touch will allow musicians to create tracks on their devices.

Called BAND, the application will be a kind-of mobile GarageBand.  Wired magazine reports that:

All instruments will be usable in the same song, while a multi-touch interface will allow up to five notes or samples to be played at the same time. Animated keys and strings will appear to move when activated, and any part can be edited, erased or overdubbed. An included metronome keeps the beat to keep each part on time.

Can we expect a whole band playing their telephones in concert? Only time will tell, but I'm sure that this will happen eventually and perhaps form part of an iPhone advertising campaign.  Check out the video below, for more info.
