Obama's iPod playlist revealed

We're not going to get political here at Rockbeatstone, but you've got to wonder whether anyone actully believes that he listens to what he says he does.

The list is as diverse as the American population's musical tastes are.  Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and ...  Ludicris.

He has over 30 Bob Dylan songs, including the complete Blood on the Tracks album, which suggests that he may have had a few heart-aches in the past.  His favourite political track is 'Maggie's Farm' by Dylan.  His favourite Stones track is 'Gimmie Shelter'.  (That was the right answer Mr Obama).

Much of his music is rooted in the era he grew up in, the 1970s: Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire, and Stevie Wonder.

Still one can't help but wonder whether there was somekind of spin being applied here. He likes Sherryl Crow, as do many mid-western Americans.  He likes rap, which appeals to the young. He likes Bruce Springsteen who appeals to "blue-collar" workers.

Springsteen recently came out in support of Obama, as we have previously reported on Rockbeatsone.

In the interview he also revealed that he had worries about certian rap lyrics. Again this was probably down to his spin doctors making sure he doesn't offend the Americans who are still worried about a black man entering the White House in a capacity other than servant.

Still he's gotta have better taste than UK politicans right?  David Cameron's favourite song is 'Eton Rifles' by the Clash. He went to Eton himself... has he never listened to the lyrics?  He is also somewhat unbelievably a fan of Morrissey.  You've got to wonder what the Clash and Morrissey have done to deserve this kind of free publicity.

Meanwhile rumours that John McCain is about to release his iPod list are untrue. He's 71 and doesn't even know what an iPod is (probably).  He has however been in trouble over the choice of his songs before his rallies, with John Mellencap specifically asking him not to play his songs.
