Not From Russia IV

We have songs from War on Drugs, Fleet Foxes, Lily Allen, Beck and free mini-Glastonbury album.

War on Drugs are one of those bands who get in your head and you can't really understand why. Taken from their LP, Wagonwheel Blues, 'Taking the Farm' has been made available by their record company, Secretly Canadian. Click here to listen and/or download.  They're playing the Windmill, Brixton in August (plus a few other London dates beforehand). Be sure to check them out.

As if you needed any more proof that Glastonbury has lost its way, then try and get your head around the fact that they have an official partner Newspaper. Still at least they didn't partner with the Times or the Daily Mail, but you still have to wonder, "Why?". Anyway the Guardian has a free Glasto-album with a set of songs from bands who are playing the festival: Neon Neon, White Denim, Yeasayer, CSS, Cystal Castles, the terrible Glasvegas, and Foals are among the artists included.  Check out the Guardian page for more info

The media has been buzzing with love for Fleet Foxes.  It seems that many of them have never listened to Crosby, Stills, Nash and sometimes Young. Still maybe I'm being a bit harsh. Make up your own mind by listening to 'He Doesn't Know Why' from the band. Thanks to Stereogum for the link.

Streamwise we've got a couple of tracks from Beck's upcoming album on iLike.  Click here for more info and to listen to 'Orphans' and 'Gamma Ray'.  Meanwhile Lily Allen has been busy in the US recording her new album, and has a track called, 'Guess Who Batman' on her Myspazz.   Finally, the Verve are rocking like it's 1996 all over again with their new track 'Love is Noise' which is on their MySpazz. Physical release is 4th August, while their album will follow shortly after on the 18th August.

At Rockbeatstone we've got our own mixtape for June. It features Bo Diddley, Bruce Springsteen live in 1978, The Animals and Amadou & Mariam. All good tunes to hear.
