RIP Danny Federici
Sorry, we don't mean to overload Rockbeatstone with Springsteen news but there is some sad news as the organist and keyboard player of the E-Street band, Danny Federici passed away last night (April 17th) after loosing a three-year battle with cancer.
Danny had left the Magic tour earlier in the tour. He had been battling with melanoma for the last three years. Instead of flowers or tributes, Springsteen and Federici's family have urged donations be made to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund. Details of which will be posted to Springsteen's website in due course.
Bruce had this to say about the man, "Danny and I worked together for 40 years - he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician. I loved him very much...we grew up together."
Below is a video of 'Sandy' from Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street band's Hammersmith, London 1975 concert. It says more than words ever could about the talent of this musician. He will be missed. As a mark of respect, the next two concerts (tonight in Ft. Lauterdale and on Saturday in Orlando) have been cancelled and will be rescheduled in due course.
