Raconteurs to release 2nd album next week!
In a move designed to head-off internet leaks and the such-like, the superband fronted by Jack White and Brendan Benson will release their second album on March 25th.
Consolers of the Lonely will feature 14 songs and will be available electronically and in the shops. The album comes as a great surprise - we knew they were up to something, but we didn't expect this to be announced so soon.
Reaction has been largely one of surprise, with the Guardian claiming that the move is perhaps a way for the band to get back at journalists and bloggers who will not receive advance promos. Jack White has previously slagged off the quality of modern internet music journalism.
The album will be released on Third Man/XL Recordings in conjunction with Warner Records.
