Hold Steady to Stay Positive

The Hold Steady have been speaking about their new album, and they let slip the name… It has tentatively been christened Stay Positive.

They also let slip that although they wouldn’t be moving away from their trademark sound of crunching guitar and bombastic E-Streetesque piano, the new album will feature strings and saxophone. The Hold Steady message-board has recently been awash with rumours that Lucero front-man Ben Nichols will also feature on the album singing backing vocals, thanks to a picture posted on their website of the recording sessions featuring said front-man.  They also decided not to shave their beards in what amounts to an beard-off between band members which to be quite frank, was hilarious.

Some of the songs played on tour rumoured to be on the new album include, 'Stay Positive' and 'Addicted to Adderall'.

The band are playing some dates in the UK as part of the NME Shockwaves Awards tour, playing Manchester, Glasgow and London.  They return to the UK for festival slots at ATP vs Pitchfork and the Great Escape Festival and have just been announced to support Counting Crows and Ben Harper at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, London.
